Carrie - Trailer 2!

Trailer: Carrie - Sony Pictures

Just like "Evil Dead," is another horror remake necessary? No, of course it isn't! But, they're making it anyway. This time, it's "Carrie," whose original received a full-budget, major-studio release. And, it's a classic by the legendary Brian DePalma! There were arguments for "Evil Dead" being remade because the 1981 original was low budget. But, all the new film's budget brought was tons more gore. And, it lost all the great touches by Director Sam Raimi and Star Bruce Campbell.

But, I'm gonna review what we got in Trailer 2 of the new "Carrie." It is dark! Not just in tone, but more importantly, in brightness of image. It is dark! You are lucky to make out what's going on in a vast majority of the trailer.

What's visible is the usual stuff from the original, of course without DePalma's directorial touches, Sissy Spacek's mesmerizing lead performance, and Piper Laurie's wild, crazy supporting performance. I can't imagine paying to see this remake. I can see the original On Demand right now! I only saw the "Evil Dead" remake because I got in for free!

"Carrie" premieres October 18.

Story: "Room 237" is "Gibberish" - Vulture.com
Trailer: Room 237 - IFC Films

Stanley Kubrick's personal assistant on "The Shining" calls "Room 237" "Gibberish!" The new documentary details the various conspiracy theories revolving around Kubrick's classic 1980 film.

This article makes good reading! The doc itself sounds entertaining, but it sounds like we should be definitely taking it with a real grain of salt!

Piranha 3DD

Trailer: Piranha 3DD - Weinstein Company

Yes, there actually is a sequel to "Piranha 3D!" And, yes the "DD" in "Piranha 3DD" is what you think it is! This installment is directed by John Gulager. Most don't know him. But, I was a real fan of "Project Greenlight," the reality series founded by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. It concerned amateur filmmakers vying to helm a $1 million budget independent film. In Season Three, which was also the last season, Gulager won. Since then, he has been the only successful product of the show, making low-budget films like this.
