Verdict: Lots of vehicular mayhem and crazy-ass stunts! Why? Because it's a "Fast & Furious" movie!
This might be the last "Fast & Furious" movie directed by Justin Lin. Universal is in such a hurry to do 7 that they are getting a different director so they can start shooting ASAP. That is insane since Lin is responsible for making this franchise work!
Oh, well, maybe Universal will change their minds! Meanwhile, enjoy tons of crazy driving and insane stunts (or CGI-created "stunts!") in this final trailer!
Verdict: Lots more Superman goodness in Trailer 3! Good stuff!
This is crazy! A day where we have both "Star Trek Into Darkness" and "Man of Steel" releasing new trailers! This post, it's all about Superman. We get to see Krypton, more of Superman in action, and more character interaction, which is cool. Plus, music that sounds like Hans Zimmer, the new film's composer. I am guessing it isn't from the film score though! Kinda early for that.
Enjoy the trailer! And, it's best to spend the extra bandwidth and view it in HD!
Verdict: Yes! Great trailer! Lots of good character interaction.
The more I see, the more I think the new "Trek" is going to be great! What is especially good is that there is a lot of good character interaction. Kirk gets tested, and has to prove himself to his superiors and his crew.
Plus, some very cool other surprises for you! Watch the trailer now!
Verdict: Great trailer, if you're a "Hunger Games" fan! :-)
I have to admit that I am not a "Hunger Games" fan. The first film was well made, but didn't do anything for me. So, the second film doesn't hold too much interest for me. I thought of it as basically a "Twilight" follow-up. And, I had seen enough tween emoting to last me a while!
This first trailer looks like we are going to get more of what we got the first time. Lots of Katniss escaping death, lots of plotting by Donald Sutherland and others, etc. It seems to once again be a well-made film, but I think you're going to have to be a "Hunger Games" fan to go for it!
"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" premieres November 22.
Verdict: Super-cool surfing doc for surf film fans like me!
Australian surfers hunt down the most incredible waves, in 3D! I have to admit, I am a surfing films addict! Even though I have never surfed myself (unless you count body surfing!).
The movie looks great! Great cinematography, lots of cool characters and lots of great waves! I hope that this is shown at a theater that I can get to! I am looking forward to it!
Verdict: Great Sci-Fi from the director of "District 9!"
Elysium is an orbiting space station high above the Earth where the privileged lead idyllic lives. On the ground, however, everyone else fights to survive. Matt Damon decides it's time to even the score!
Neill Blomkamp is the highly-talented director who did "District 9." Again, this film tackles social commentary as it entertains. I think it's an excellent trailer, with definitely the atmosphere of "District 9." And, it stars Matt Damon! I have to admit, ever since I saw his characterization in "Team America - World Police," I can't think of him without thinking of that movie! But, he's a great actor, and this could be a pretty cool film.
Verdict: Intriguing car race docudrama from Ron Howard!
Ron Howard brings to the screen the story of two 1970's Formula 1 rivals! Lots of good action, shot in today's all-too-usual desaturated cinematography. I am not into biography movies as much, but I am thinking Howard can deliver, since one of my all time favorite films is his "Apollo 13." When dealing with real-life characters, Howard can excel!
Verdict: Looks MUCH funnier than "Part II" (thank heavens!)
The Wolfpack is back, and in trouble, like usual! But, luckily, this seems like it will be MUCH funnier than "Part II!" So, there's that. As usual with any comedy trailer, you are going to see a lot of the funniest jokes, so view with caution! And, with some comedy movie trailers, you are going to see ALL of the jokes! :-)
A team of four master illusionists stun crowds when they rob banks and throw the resulting money into the audience during their performances. The FBI and the bank owners are decidedly NOT amused!
And, so goes the plot of "Now You See Me." The second trailer is out today! Lots of high-profile stars in this one, including Mark Ruffalo, "The Hulk" in "The Avengers." I am guessing the illusionists/bank robbers would surrender in a second if Mark-o went all green on them!
The trailer seems interesting. Of course, you're wondering about how they're doing what they're doing. At the same time, this sounds primarily to be a heist movie, and I personally am not into heist movies. But, this could change my mind!
After running into controversy over its animated "Pocahontas" film, Disney was wanting to be much better at relations with Native Americans this time around. So, Johnny Depp not only got their blessing, but has become an honorary member of the Comanche Nation!
"The Lone Ranger" has so far released Trailer 2 this past December. The film sounds like it could be really cool! I like the trailer, with its combination of action and Western atmosphere.
Just like "Evil Dead," is another horror remake necessary? No, of course it isn't! But, they're making it anyway. This time, it's "Carrie," whose original received a full-budget, major-studio release. And, it's a classic by the legendary Brian DePalma! There were arguments for "Evil Dead" being remade because the 1981 original was low budget. But, all the new film's budget brought was tons more gore. And, it lost all the great touches by Director Sam Raimi and Star Bruce Campbell.
But, I'm gonna review what we got in Trailer 2 of the new "Carrie." It is dark! Not just in tone, but more importantly, in brightness of image. It is dark! You are lucky to make out what's going on in a vast majority of the trailer.
What's visible is the usual stuff from the original, of course without DePalma's directorial touches, Sissy Spacek's mesmerizing lead performance, and Piper Laurie's wild, crazy supporting performance. I can't imagine paying to see this remake. I can see the original On Demand right now! I only saw the "Evil Dead" remake because I got in for free!
It is very sad to hear of the death of Roger Ebert! He was my favorite film critic, and I loved what he wrote, whether I agreed with his critiques or not.
His work will carry on. He was a critic during some of the greatest times for film, and film fans will benefit from his writings for generations to come!
It seems every studio got on the teen movie bandwagon as fast as they could after "Twilight" came out! Now, after both "Beautiful Creatures" and "The Host" just bombed, here comes another one! This time, it's the awkwardly named "The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones." And, as you can see, the poster doesn't seem too exciting either!
It's obvious that you have lots of authors desperate to make as much money as possible selling these "Twilight"-esque movies. And, you can tell the studios want to also. But, you can tell how uninspired these movies are! The "Twilight" movies themselves wheezed to a boring conclusion this past year, after far outliving their welcome. Now, here we go again!
You get the idea quickly here: a young girl is drawn into a world populated by otherworldly creatures, blah blah blah! The actors here seem to have especially little charisma. Kind of like the "Twilight" movies I sat through! C'mon people, if you're going to insist on spending tons of money on movies like these that few people want to see, at least put some effort into it!
"The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones" premieres August 23.
Stanley Kubrick's personal assistant on "The Shining" calls "Room 237" "Gibberish!" The new documentary details the various conspiracy theories revolving around Kubrick's classic 1980 film.
This article makes good reading! The doc itself sounds entertaining, but it sounds like we should be definitely taking it with a real grain of salt!
